Annual Conference & Bookfair
Each year, AWP holds its Annual Conference & Bookfair in a different city to celebrate the authors, teachers, students, writing programs, literary centers, and publishers of that region. This has been impacted by COVID-19. Our 2019 conference in Portland, OR attracted 15,000 participants and there were over 700 bookfair exhibitors. AWP is now the largest literary conference and independent literary marketplace in North America.
Magazine & Website
AWP's flagship publication The Writer's Chronicle serves as a leading source of articles, news, and craft information for writers, editors, students, and teachers of writing. Published four times a year, the Chronicle provides interviews with writers and craft essays by leading creative writers, teacher, and scholars. The Writer's Chronicle seeks to enact diversity in its articles and present a well-rounded and comprehensive view of the contemporary literary landscape.
AWP's website (www.awpwriter.org) provides educational, career and craft resources, including a Job List, Writer's Calendar, Guide to Writing Programs, Directory of Members, Bookshelf page for members as well as online publications the Writer's News and The Writer's Notebook with articles that support creative writing teachers, students and literary arts professionals.
Membership Services
Individual and institutional membership in AWP provides opportunities for publishing and networking, services for finding jobs, and a lively exchange of ideas about writing and teaching.
