What does each Wix premium plan include?

Regular Websites

Let's start by looking at the Connect Domainplan – strange name, huh? Basically, the main difference between this and theFree plan is the ability to connect your own custom domain name with your Wix site (e.g. www.yourname.com). The Wix ads will remain on your page, which makes this plan not such a great deal – at least not for a business.

Combo comes with a domain name if you pick a yearly subscription. You can get .com, .net, .org, .biz and a few other extensions (see screenshot). Please note that it's only free for the first year, the regular price is around $14.95 per year. It also allows you to connect existing domain names with your Wix website.

Basically, Combo has everything except an online store option. The only difference between this and theUnlimited plan is storage, bandwidth and the included video hours.

The Pro plan includes a logo that you can create with Wix Logo Maker. But to be honest, we can't think of any scenario where the Pro plan makes much sense (unless you absolutely need the 20 GB of storage). It's too expensive for what it is.

The VIP plan's main selling point is the priority support. If you have a question it'll be pushed in front of the line – cheeky. Be aware that this plan doesn't include the online store module. You'll need one of the Business plans for that – read below.

Our recommendation: In our opinion Combo is all you need for a regular site without ecommerce (even though Wix heavily promotes Unlimited and Pro). If you do ever come close to exceeding your Combo plan's storage or bandwidth limits, Wix will inform you well in advance (should be good for about 3,000 monthly visitors). Upgrading plans is always possible and existing funds will be credited. For average sites, Combo's data limits are more than enough.

Ecommerce Websites

The Business & eCommerce plans let you accept payments through your website and grant you access to Wix's online store. Additionally, you'll be also able to use the most interesting Wix premium apps like Wix Hotels, Wix Restaurants, Wix Bookings or Wix Music (available through the Wix App Market).

Wix Business Basic is enough to get started with ecommerce or use one of the aforementioned premium apps to receive payments. There are no commission fees charged by Wix (other than transaction costs for your payment gateway).

Business Unlimited adds professional ecommerce features for larger stores (e.g. automated sales tax, label printing, dropshipping, product reviews, etc.). You also get a little bit more storage space (35GB).

Business VIP can be valuable if you need really fast customer support. In addition to that Wix increases some of the limits for dropshipping, product reviews and lets you offer a loyalty program for your store. In most cases, it's probably not worth the upgrade.

Sidenote: Keep in mind that you can test the online store and most premium apps in the free plan too. Compared to its competitors, the online store is pretty low-cost. You'll find more information in our Wix eCommerce review.

Finally, they also offer an Enterprise plan with "Custom Pricing". It used to state a cost of $500 (!) per month. This plan will only be interesting if you are already a Business VIP user, hitting the limits of that plan.

How can I pay for my Wix subscription?

Accepted payment methods at Wix are Visa/Mastercard, American Express, JBC, Diners and Discover. If you are based in Europe you can also pay by direct debit (SEPA). Direct debit may take 2-7 business days to process. Wix also issues VAT invoices that can be found in your account under Billing History. Paypal is currently not accepted by Wix.

What are the Wix plans we recommend the most?

Based on 1,292 completions, our Smart Finder tool recommended the following plans:

You can see that Wix Combo was the best match for most people wanting to create a regular website. It was the top recommendation 474 times (37%). For ecommerce, Wix Business Basic was recommended 409 times (32%).

This result is based on 1,972 Smart Finder engagements, of which, 1,292 were completed, in a time frame of 7 weeks. Another 2% were recommended the Free plan. The Pro and Enterprise plans weren't included in the results as they are only relevant to a tiny segment of all Wix users.

What about Email Accounts?

One thing Wix doesn't solve particularly well is email accounts for your domain name. You can sign up for Google Workspace through them but you'll have to pay $6 per month.

An alternative solution is to purchase the domain name through a third party (e.g. Namecheap) and get your custom email addresses from there. This will cost you around $10 per year.

What is Wix Ascend and how much does it cost?

Wix Ascend provides additional marketing tools that aren't included in Wix's standard subscriptions. Mainly think of live chat, email marketing, and better registration forms. With a paid Ascend plan your visitors also won't see any branding in your live chat window.

Keep in mind that you can also get contact forms, live chat, and email marketing elsewhere, often for free. But obviously it's more convenient getting everything from Wix directly and their free plan actually isn't bad.

Free: $0. Includes 3 email campaigns, 5 forms with up to 10 fields, chatbox with branding, and more.

Basic: $10 per month. 5 email campaigns (up to 9.500 emails), 10 forms with unlimited fields, branding-free live chat, 5 recurring payment plans with invoices, and more.

Professional: $24 per month. 20 email campaigns (up to 50k emails), 20 forms with unlimited fields, unlimited recurring payments with invoices.

Unlimited: $49 per month. Unlimited email campaigns (up to 1m emails), unlimited form features, unlimited automations, unlimited recurring payments, and more.

Final thoughts – Is Wix good value?

Here's the short answer: It can be very good value, but you'll need to find the plan that's right for you.

For most non-ecommerce users, Combo is usually the best option as it's ad-free and you'll get your own domain name. Unless you are expecting hundreds of daily visitors right from the start you should forget about the other website plans for now. Remember, you can always upgrade later!

If you'd like to open an online store, we would recommend starting out with Business Basic as this is the cheapest plan that comes with ecommerce features. We like that Wix also offers monthly payment options as many other website builders only have yearly subscriptions available.

How much is Wix Bookings?

The basic version of Wix Bookings is free (see our review). The paid plan allows you to receive payments online, offer group bookings and will also let you send out reminder emails. Here's an overview of all plans with Wix Bookings included:

What does bandwidth mean and why should I care?

The bandwidth limit is only really relevant to the Combo plan where you have 2 GB (2,000 MB) included. Let's say the average visit costs 1 MB of bandwidth, then you could have up to 2,000 Visitors per month. If you're expecting more than that, you should pick at least the Unlimited plan.

But to be honest, it looks like they don't even enforce this limit. Our own Wix site has had months with more than 2,000 visitors, and we were never told to change our plan.

How many products can I add in the Ecommerce plans?

Is there a discount for non-profit organisations (NGO)?

Yes, charitable and non-profit organizations are eligible for a free plan or discounted plans. It needs to be renewed every year.

When I try to upgrade Wix I am seeing prices that are much higher. Why?

You probably have an app installed such as Wix Bookings. When you click upgrade it will automatically add the app to your purchase price.

Are the prices for Editor X different?

Editor X is Wix's website editor for advanced users. It does indeed have a different pricing structure. Find all of Editor X's plans and prices on this page.

Wix is running a promotion but Combo and Business Basic are not included. What should I do?

Wix sometimes offers discounts of up to 50%. Unfortunately, they usually exclude Combo and Business Basic – the plans we recommend the most!

In this case, we advise you to take advantage of the offer only if you'd consider at least a 2 or even 3-year plan. This way your savings will be significant.

Just don't forget to downgrade your plan after the initial 2 or 3-year period if you don't need the extra features!
